In 2021, our team set out to find a new system that could streamline operations and support our digital growth. After thorough research and evaluation, Odoo Enterprise stood out as the ideal platform — offering powerful business applications and the flexibility to adapt to our specific needs.

One of the key requirements was to integrate our website directly into Odoo. However, this setup wasn’t possible through odoo.sh, so we explored alternative hosting solutions that could give us more freedom and performance.

Odoo’s strong support for containerized deployments made Kubernetes a natural choice. With Odoo’s ready-to-use Docker images and its reliance on PostgreSQL, we were able to design a modern, scalable infrastructure.

Yet, during testing, we discovered that the database load was too high for a fully containerized setup. To ensure optimal stability and speed, we implemented a hybrid architecture — combining the best of both worlds:

  • Patroni running on bare-metal servers to deliver high-performance and resilient PostgreSQL clusters.
  • Kubernetes managing the Odoo application layer for flexibility, scalability, and streamlined updates.

This hybrid approach provided the perfect balance between performance, reliability, and scalability, ensuring that Odoo Enterprise could run smoothly while supporting future growth.

Today, our Odoo environment runs efficiently, with faster response times, simplified maintenance, and the flexibility to scale resources as needed — all thanks to a tailored hybrid hosting solution designed around real-world performance needs.
