ASERGO End of Summer Update
As summer concludes in Europe, let's dive into our plans for the upcoming months.
Upcoming Docker Repository Upgrade
Security is paramount. We're transitioning from our current Nexus Docker Repository to the more sophisticated Harbor Repository (https://goharbor.io/).
We have activated Trivy, a cutting-edge vulnerability scanner, in Harbor for security reasons. Trivy scrupulously inspects uploaded images for security concerns, aiding your deployment decisions.
Enhanced Authentication for Docker Repository
Based on user feedback, we've integrated OpenID Connect (OIDC) for tailored authentication, ensuring smooth and secure access. Additionally, for CLI access, we've introduced hashed password generation. Together, these measures fortify access controls.
Announcing Data Center CPH3
We're excited to unveil our new data center in Copenhagen, Denmark, starting 01/12-2023 (https://www.digitalrealty.com).
Initial services will include backup, archiving, and Object Storage across CPH2 and CPH3.
Dedicated server and Kubernetes deployments in CPH3 will follow.
We plan to introduce Data Center CPH4 later.
New Object Storage Offerings
We will launch our Object Storage on September 15, initially emphasizing cold and warm storage. We have designed it for backup, archiving, and low-intensity tasks. We're also introducing a customizable single-tenant Object Storage option for those of you who require greater control.
Enhanced Data Center Connectivity
We are improving connectivity across all our data centers by implementing private fiber links that facilitate direct connections between data centers. This enhancement assures heightened security for clients utilizing servers or Kubernetes clusters distributed across multiple data centers.
Moreover, we are pleased to offer complimentary data transfers between data centers, leveraging Asergo's private fiber connection. This network boasts a substantial capacity with bandwidth speeds reaching up to 16000Gbit/s, facilitating swift and secure data communication.
Evolution of ASERGO
Since 2001, our management of ASERGO relied on a monolithic Java-based platform. However, in the past three years, we have transitioned to a distributed architecture utilizing Scala, Go, and Vlang. While these changes are primarily behind the scenes, they pave the way for us to provide additional features, products, and enhancements to your Dashboard.
Additionally, we're adopting Odoo's (https://odoo.com) CRM system for our administrative tasks. The outcome? Improved invoices, quotations, subscription overview, and a revamped invoice interface in your Dashboard.
Upcoming Product Launches
We are diligently finalizing our new product offerings for Dedicated Servers and Kubernetes Worker Nodes.
Dedicated Servers
These will be available in 8 distinct models, ranging from 32GB to 384GB RAM.
Each server will have SSD and CPU capabilities that match the RAM configuration.
Kubernetes Worker Nodes
We'll introduce 9 specialized nodes designed for various needs, including general-purpose, storage, and nodes for special use cases.
Stay tuned for our October/November newsletter, where we'll provide detailed specifications and pricing for these products.
Customer Queries
Why can't I upgrade to the newest Kubernetes version?
You can upgrade, but version 1.25 isn't compatible with version 1.24. We want to inspect your cluster to ensure a safe upgrade path before upgrading beyond 1.24. Please reach out to us for an evaluation and advice.
Are you phasing out dedicated servers?
Not at all. However, given supply chain challenges, we're procuring servers in bulk, leading to a more standardized dedicated server range.
So, looking forward, you will have fewer customization options but higher product availability.
Why must I contact Asergo whenever I need a new server?
We assemble servers based on specific orders using our extensive inventory of barebone servers and spare parts. But we're transitioning. Soon, we'll offer a fully pre-configured product range, allowing you to set up dedicated servers and Kubernetes nodes directly through the Dashboard or GraphQL API.
Do you offer Docker Repository service for Dedicated Servers?
Short answer: Yes.
